The Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Marine Environment in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA), received an invitation of the Saudi Coastal Guards in the region of Mecca to participate in exhibition of the “Week of the Coastal Guards in the Gulf". The exhibition was organized in main exhibition hall of the Red Sea Mall in Jeddah during the period from 2nd to 9th May, 2014. The main message intended by the activity was to transfer knowledge about safety in the sea to the public in the region of Mecca.
PERSGA participated within many public and private institutions in celebrating the week of the Border Guards and the Coast Guard in the Gulf under the slogan of "The Safety of the Marine environment and Wild Life." During the exhibition, the Safety Committee of the Border Guards worked hard to raise the level of awareness and safety procedures in the sea and the importance of preserving marine and wild life environment within the local community; especially the visitors of the exhibition, and targeting in the mean time children and young people .
The exhibition attracted many people and PERSGA displayed a large number of its environmental publications mainly in Arabic Language. Hundreds of these publications were picked by the exhibition visitors; especially the book titled "The Red Sea: a world of diversity " which was the main attraction.
The exhibition of the "Sea Safety week" was the first activity in which PERSGA cooperated with the Coastal Guard in the region of Mecca, and PERSGA is looking forward to more cooperation with them in the near future.
