The Sixth Environmental Forum of Arab Youth was held in the city of
Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, during the period September 23 – 26, 2014. The event
was organized by the Union of Arab Youth with the assistance, participation and
sponsorship of the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the
Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA).
PERSGA presented several events at the forum. These included a series of educational lectures to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the marine environment,environmental measures that can be taken to reduce the impact of climate change on Arabian coasts,and the value of maintaining mangrove stands, sea grass and coral reefs. The activities included a field visit and a cleanup campaign in "Ras Mohamed" marine protected area.
This activity comes within the framework of PERSGA’s efforts to raise environmental awareness among Arab youth at both national and regional levels,and also within the framework of its continuous cooperation with the Arab League.
