01/12/2012 Adaptation to Climate Change Impacts in PERSGA Region - COP18

PERSGA and the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (PME) organized a side event During the Climate Change COP18 held in Doha Qatar during the period 26th November to 8th December 2012. The side event entitled "Ecosystem based Adaptation to the Impacts of Climate Changes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden" was attended by more than 60 participants from PERSGA region and other parts of the world. The side-event aimed at the demonstration of the experiences of PERSGA member states and PERSGA efforts in developing and implementing strategies for Ecosystem based Adaptation to Climate Change Impacts in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The presentations given by PERSGA experts from member countries participating in the COP18 (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen) focused on their national experience in the development and implementation of national adaptation strategies. The building of adaptive capacity in key vulnerable sectors, the increase of the ecosystem resilience and the reduction of climate related disasters and the mobilization and management of knowledge for adaptation policy and planning.

The Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden
